About Claire and Ayesh

We are Claire & Ayesh, a Tokyo-based photographer and videographer duo. Claire is French-Japanese and has lived in Tokyo for over 20 years, while Ayesh, originally from Sri Lanka, has been based in Japan for more than a decade. We met through our shared passion for photography and all things automotive, and we have been together ever since!

Our collaboration goes beyond simply shooting together, and combining our complementary skills is what we enjoy most about our partnership. Claire leads project direction and client communication, while Ayesh oversees photography, videography, and editing direction. This balance allows us to deliver cohesive, carefully crafted visual work from concept to final output.

Fluent in Japanese, we work seamlessly with local clients, and also support our international clients seeking locally produced content.

We specialize in automotive photography and videography, which allows us to offer a one-stop approach that ensures consistent, high-quality visual content and a strong, unified brand image. Our work spans commercial projects, vehicle launches, and events. Whether shooting in striking locations across Japan, on the busy streets of Tokyo, on track, or in the studio, we aim to highlight each car in a way that feels both dynamic and authentic. Our work continues well beyond the shoot itself, and we equally value the time spent on editing and post-production to ensure every image and film meets our highest standards.

Our clients include Ferrari APAC, Bentley Motors, Singer Vehicle Design, Jaguar Land Rover, Porsche Japan, Hyundai Japan.

Our work has been published in WIRED, The Rake, Cornes Magazine, Oceans, Goethe, Le Volant.

While automotive projects remain our core focus, we also contribute to a range of photography and videography assignments, including Japan-based photography and filming for events, launch films, and corporate projects. We also led all Japan-based filming for the upcoming documentary "Our Quantum Future."

Claire-Kaoru Sakai(堺 クレール薫)

Born in France and raised in Japan, I also spent some time studying in North Carolina where I graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Communication from Wake Forest University. Alongside my photography and videography work with Ayesh, I work as a freelance automotive journalist, covering Japan's rich and unique car culture, industry news and car reviews. Carefully choosing the right words to describe a car, and deep-diving into specific topics is what makes writing a passion of mine.  In our photography and videography work, I love to pay attention to details, from scouting the right locations to managing logistics, to ensure every shoot runs smoothly.

Ayesh Seneviratne

I developed my passion for photography while studying automotive design in Tokyo. Whether on assignment for automotive clients or working on documentary projects, finding the right angles, the right lighting, and getting every technical detail just right, is what drives me in my photography and videography work. I equally value the editing process, as this quiet, focused time is where I get to refine each shot and bring out its full potential.
